GREEK THEATRE??????

A new semester has just begun. Today was the first meeting with our lecturer Dr. Edwin for the subject Teaching the Language of Drama. I was quite excited for the class at first but unfortunately it turned out to be the most exhausted day so far in this year 2009.

The first lecture was about the overview of the history of theatre. At first, it was fine and interesting lecture and I enjoyed it very much but things were just started to blow up when I started hearing all the sophisticated words that sound very alien to me. Honestly, I have no idea what theatre is all about and this first lecture was really a torturing one. Dr. Edwin has mentioned a few names such as William Shakespeare and Aristotle which are related to the founder of theatre. However, only those two names rang the bell. The rest was just stucked in my head and it really gave me a headache. Although it was really hard for me to understand, it did give me a clear view of what theatre is all about.

The first two-hour lecturer was really a tormenting one but it really gave me a lot of information which is useful to me. The hardest part of the lecture was to keep my eyes open and try to suck up all the information which i know it is impossible to do when you feel so sleepy in class. Although it was a very tiring day, i think it was a good start lecture to all of us. At least, we learn something new, gain knowledge and try hard to make sense of it. The good part is, I can now proudly tell my friends about the Greek theatre!!!
